Pastoral Care provides Christian support to members of our congregation who are unable to attend church regularly or to participate actively in a full range of church activities because of age, physical challenge, or illness.
Pastoral Care is provided through many programs and includes:
HOME VISITS - In addition to visits by pastors, our Director of Seniors' Ministries, and our Pastoral Care Assistant, deacons, and other trained members of the church make personal contact with assigned care recipients at least once a month to affirm our interdependence as a church family.
MEMBER RESPONSE TEAM - MRT is a joint venture of the Deacons and the Local Missions Committee to address special needs of members. The MRT connects members with church and/or local resources to address job loss, counseling needs, transition issues related to immigration, short term financial assistance, and other emergency needs.
COMPASSION GUILD - Assists church staff and families when a family member dies. Arranges ushering and receptions for memorial services.
RECUPERATION SUPPLIES - Available for loan through the church office. Durable items such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, bath benches, and commodes are recycled as needed. Donations are appreciated.
LITERATURE - On geriatric topics i.e. retirement homes, insurance, and care-giving, is available from the office of the Director of Seniors' Ministries.
THE PRAYER CHAIN - Thirty Westminster members covenant to pray regularly for those needs shared through our email prayer chain.
JOYS AND CONCERNS - A weekly listing in our bulletin of joys and concerns. This is made available so that worshippers may take this listing home for use in their personal prayers.
THE CARE LINE - (703) 684-2934 Provides a way of getting up-to-date information by phone about members who are currently in the hospital. When a memorial service is held, that information is on The Care Line.
DEACON MEAL TEAM - Meals for church members with short term need are coordinated and delivered to homes.
COMMUNION TO HOSPITALIZED AND HOMEBOUND MEMBERS - Each month Deacons take communion to homebound and hospitalized members.
