Westminster’s Craft Workshop celebrated thirty years March 2008. It begun in 1978 as an outreach program of Presbyterian Women. Thirty years have seen us provide fellowship, support, and education to hundreds of people, young and old, church members and community friends. Every year about eighty people take the boxwood workshops in December, half from the church and half from the community. We have open workshops morning and evening every Tuesday and classes throughout the year on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays, teaching new skills to men and women, elderly and children, church members, and community adult education in partnership with the public schools. We have had scout troops, home-schooled children, and PTA workers all benefit from our classes. If you haven’t visited us, drop by any Tuesday 9:30 a.m. to noon or 7:30 - 10 p.m. and check out our space in Room 104. We would love to see you. All are welcome to work on Tuesdays on any project during our open workshop.

Call Madeline Ramsey at 703-379-7458 for more information or to register.

The following are examples of classes held in past years:

Fused Glass Jewelry - Create five pieces of jewelry using a variety of glass, including dichroic glass. Using a kiln, you will fuse each piece for a beautiful finished product.

Precious Metal Clay - Precious metal clay can be molded and formed like any clay, but it fires to pure silver (.999). Learn how to use this clay to make unique silver jewelry. One pin or pendant will be completed in class.

Mosaic Bird Bath
- Make a bird bath for your summer back yard or patio while learning about working with this easy technique.

Hinged Lid Box (Beginning Stained Glass required) - Another project-driven class to learn basic techniques of three dimensional construction. Complete a 3x4x1" hinged lid box using stained glass and bevels.

To sign up, or for more information, call Madeline Ramsey, 703-379-7458. Please visit us in Room 104 on any Tuesday 9:30 a.m. - noon or 7:30 p.m. - 10, to check out our facilities and our activities. We welcome guests at any time.
