Senior adults have the opportunity to take day trips or attend special events in the church three times a month. Trained drivers provide transportation from the church using a new 15-passenger bus and a van equipped with auxiliary steps. Extended trips via chartered bus are a yearly highlight of the Travelers’ program.
Destinations, often suggested by participants, have included historic homes, gardens, area galleries, plays, concerts, and parks. The trip fee is $1 plus applicable entry fees and meals. The goal of the Travelers is sociability achieved in a compassionate, safe, and entertaining environment. Church members younger than age 60 and non-church members are welcome if space is available. Travelers' Trips Coming Up...
March 4, 9:30 a.m. Lunch at Claire's on the Depot in Warrenton, VA. Cost is $1 plus lunch.
March 17, 9:15 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. National Gallery of Art. Cost is $1, plus lunch at the gallery cafeteria.
March 25, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Lunch at Cozy Restaurant in Thurmont, MD. Cost is $1 plus lunch.
April 28-30 Lancaster, PA Theater Trip. We will see the new musical Joseph at Sight and Sound Theatre. The trip includes a visit to Longwood Gardens, the play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the historic Fulton Street Theatre, and shopping at the Lancaster Farms' Market. The cost, $275 per person sharing a double room, includes these events, accommodations at Hershey Farms Inn in Strasburg, a buffet dinner, 2 breakfasts, and transportation via church bus and mini-van. A $100 deposit is due to Sandy Calhoun by Monday, March 8. If you cancel your reservation, your deposit will be refunded if an alternate person is found for your space.
Westminster Travelers trips are planned for senior adults. All times listed indicate departure times from the church parking lot unless otherwise noted. Make reservations by calling church office at 703-549-4766. Non-church members are welcome if space is available. Transportation is provided from the church to event destinations.
